OVERVIEW

Introduced in June 2026 as a 2027 model, the third-generation Audi SQ7 became the most powerful production SQ7 ever offered in the United States. Developed on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, the new model combined the practicality of Audi’s largest SUV with performance levels approaching those of the company’s RS models.

The third-generation SQ7 was introduced as a United States-exclusive launch variant, pairing Audi’s largest SUV with a 591-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 at a time when the European-market Q7 range was offered exclusively with V6 TDI diesel powertrains. This distinction made the SQ7 a unique offering within Audi’s global SUV portfolio and reinforced North America’s longstanding preference for high-performance gasoline-powered luxury SUVs.

Power came from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 TFSI producing 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. Coupled with an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and permanent quattro all-wheel drive, the SQ7 was capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. Despite its performance credentials, the model retained the utility expected of a full-size luxury SUV, including a towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds.

Chassis technology played a significant role in the SQ7’s performance capabilities. Adaptive air suspension was standard equipment, while available all-wheel steering enhanced maneuverability at low speeds and stability at highway velocities. An electronically controlled rear differential further improved traction and agility by actively distributing torque between the rear wheels.

The SQ7 also served as a showcase for Audi’s latest lighting technologies. Digital Matrix LED headlights utilizing micro-LED technology allowed highly precise light distribution and advanced projection functions, while third-generation OLED rear lamps offered customizable digital light signatures. Together, these systems represented some of the most advanced lighting technology ever fitted to a production Audi SUV.

Inside, the SQ7 adopted Audi’s newest digital cockpit architecture. A curved MMI panoramic display, Audi virtual cockpit and available front passenger display formed the centerpiece of the cabin. Additional technology included an AI-powered Audi assistant, ChatGPT integration and access to the Audi Application Store. Luxury-oriented features such as a Bang & Olufsen 4D Premium Sound System, variable-light-control glass roof and power opening and closing doors further positioned the SQ7 at the top of Audi’s SUV range.

Seating configurations included standard seven-passenger accommodation as well as an available six-passenger layout featuring second-row captain’s chairs. With all rear seating folded, cargo capacity expanded to 78.1 cubic feet, maintaining the versatility expected of Audi’s flagship performance SUV.

The third-generation SQ7 was scheduled to arrive at U.S. dealerships during the second half of 2026 as a 2027 model year vehicle. Pricing was not announced at launch.
