SUMMARY
The fourth generation Audi RS 6, the C8 (type 4K) made several leaps forward in differentiation over previous cars. At the heart of the car is the Porsche-developed EA425 V8 biturbo fitted in what is commonly believed to be one of the best-looking station wagons in the segment.
For the C8, Audi may have been harking the earlier C3-era 200 quattro 20V when it went with a more aggressive fascia. However, whereas the 200 used simply a different grille and headlight treatment, the C8 RS 6 uses the entire front clip of the RS 7 including narrower A7-derived headlights. Doors matching the wider RS flares were also shared with the RS 7.
The C8 also marked the return of the RS 6 to North America. Not since the C5-generation had the RS 6 been sold in the U.S. and Canada, and this was the first time the Avant was made available.
Unlike the earliest C5 and C6 cars though matching the C7, the C8 RS 6 was only ever sold as an Avant.
