SUMMARY

The ABT RS 5-R is a limited-edition aftermarket conversion of the B10-generation Audi RS 5, offered in Avant and Sedan forms. Its specification combines an ABT Power S engine upgrade with carbon fiber body components, revised suspension, forged wheels and interior trim. ABT announced a worldwide allocation of 130 cars, commemorating the company’s 130-year history.

The conversion retains the production RS 5’s plug-in hybrid configuration, with ABT quoting approximately 529 kW (720 PS) and 905 Nm of combined system output. Customers can purchase a complete vehicle through ABT or commission the conversion of an existing RS 5.

BACKGROUND & DEVELOPMENT

The B10 RS 5 introduced a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the model line, pairing a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric motor, an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. ABT’s RS 5-R applies the company’s established limited-edition conversion approach to this new powertrain and to both available body styles.

The published specification distinguishes the V6’s output from the combined hybrid system rating. ABT also listed a subsequent Power R upgrade and an ABT-Akrapovič exhaust system for introduction in the second quarter of 2027. Those items were planned additions rather than part of the initial Power S specification.

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION

The exterior conversion comprises a front spoiler with front blades, wheelhouse louvers, mirror caps, side skirts and a rear diffuser. The Avant additionally receives a rear wing with aero blades; the Sedan package omits this component.

Two carbon fiber finishes are offered: glossy exposed carbon and matte Carbon Camouflage. ABT describes Carbon Camouflage, which combines a carbon fiber texture with a camouflage pattern, as the company’s first application of this finish.

The conversion remains based on the production Audi body structure. ABT’s brochure recommends the Audi Sport Package for the donor vehicle and identifies factory carbon exterior equipment to avoid when specifying a car for conversion.

CHASSIS & MECHANICALS

ABT Power S increases the V6’s quoted output from 375 kW (510 PS) and 600 Nm to approximately 435 kW (591 PS) and 680 Nm. Combined hybrid system output rises from 470 kW (639 PS) and 825 Nm to approximately 529 kW (720 PS) and 905 Nm, equivalent to roughly 710 hp and 668 lb-ft.

The figures are specified using 98 RON gasoline. ABT lists compatibility with the myABT app but does not identify an electric-motor power increase in the supplied specifications.

Suspension modifications consist of ABT springs and sport anti-roll bars. Gloss-black ABT EVO Performance 22-inch forged wheels and tires complete the chassis package. ABT states that top speed remains unchanged; an updated acceleration time and the amount of suspension lowering were not specified in the launch brochure.

INTERIOR & EQUIPMENT

Interior changes include Dinamica center-console trim, dashboard covers and seat-frame covers, together with front-seat trim panels and carbon fiber shift paddles. The paddles are offered in gloss carbon or Carbon Camouflage.

A “1 of 130” emblem on the center console and corresponding door sills identify the limited edition. Other equipment includes entrance lighting, floor mats with embroidered RS 5-R logos, an ABT-branded luggage-compartment mat and an ABT key cover.

PRODUCTION & VARIANTS

The 130-car allocation covers the Avant and Sedan together. ABT does not specify a separate production allocation for each body style in the supplied material. Both versions share the Power S output, suspension and wheel specification, with the Avant’s rear wing accounting for the principal listed bodywork difference.
