SUMMARY
For the 2026 Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort, Audi Netherlands supplied three specially prepared Audi Q5 SUV e-hybrid quattro models for medical support duties.
The Q5 Medical Cars formed part of a six-car Audi operational fleet at Zandvoort alongside three Audi RS 5 models assigned to Race Control. Two Q5 e-hybrids supported the Formula 1 program in addition to the official FIA Medical Car, while a third was assigned specifically to the Porsche Supercup.
The cars were distinguished from standard-production Q5 models by dedicated Dutch Grand Prix circuit liveries and the warning-light equipment required for their operational roles.
MEDICAL CAR ROLE
Two of the three Q5 e-hybrid Medical Cars were deployed during Formula 1 activities to provide additional medical support around Circuit Zandvoort.
The third was used during the Porsche Supercup program. For the Supercup race, the Medical Car drove directly behind the field on the opening lap, positioning the medical crew to respond rapidly in the event of an accident.
Unlike the official FIA Formula 1 Medical Car, the Audi Q5s served as supplementary vehicles supplied by Audi Netherlands to the Dutch Grand Prix organization.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
The three Q5 e-hybrid vehicles were specially prepared for circuit operations with:
- Dutch Grand Prix-specific exterior livery
- Emergency / warning lighting installations
- Four-person accommodation for the medical crew
- Rear-seat headroom sufficient for personnel wearing helmets
- Luggage capacity for medical bags and other emergency equipment
Audi Netherlands specifically cited the Q5’s interior space as an important factor in its suitability for medical duties. Four occupants could travel in each vehicle while helmeted medical personnel could be accommodated in the rear seats.
The luggage compartment provided space for the medical team’s equipment.
BASE VEHICLE
The Medical Car was based on the B10-generation Audi Q5 SUV e-hybrid quattro introduced for the European market in 2025. The production Q5 e-hybrid combines a 2.0 TFSI engine with an electric motor integrated into the seven-speed S tronic transmission and uses quattro ultra all-wheel drive.
Audi offered the European Q5 SUV e-hybrid in 220 kW and 270 kW system-output versions. The high-voltage battery has 25.9 kWh gross and 20.7 kWh net capacity, while the electric motor produces up to 105 kW.
Audi Netherlands did not specify which Q5 e-hybrid power level was used for the Dutch Grand Prix Medical Cars.
SIGNIFICANCE TO AUDI
The Q5 Medical Car was part of Audi’s expanded presence at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, where the company was represented competitively by the Audi Revolut F1 Team and operationally through vehicles supplied by Audi Netherlands.
Together, the three Q5 Medical Cars and three RS 5 Race Control Cars created a six-vehicle Audi support fleet carrying dedicated Dutch Grand Prix liveries.
