SUMMARY

The Audi RS 4 Avant edition 25 years is a limited-production high-performance estate car introduced in 2024 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Audiโ€™s RS 4 model line. Developed by Audi Sport GmbH and Audi exclusive, the edition serves as the performance flagship of the B9-generation A4 series and pays visual and conceptual tribute to the 2001 RS4 Sport of the first-generation RS 4 (B5). Production is limited to 250 units for Europe, with each vehicle individually numbered.

Alongside the anniversary model, Audi simultaneously introduced the RS 5 Sportback performance edition, which shares the same uprated power output and several technical enhancements and is also limited to 250 units.

BACKGROUND

The RS 4 lineage began in 1999 with the B5 RS4 Avant, the first RS model fully developed by quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH). The original RS4 featured a widened body and a Cosworth-enhanced 2.7-litre biturbo V6 producing 280 kW (380 PS), establishing the template for Audiโ€™s high-performance Avant models.

In 2001, the RS4 Sport introduced further chassis, brake, and interior upgrades, making it the most focused variant of the B5 generation. The 2024 anniversary edition draws direct inspiration from this model through color choices, interior details, and hardware upgrades intended to position it as the most dynamic version of the modern B9 RS 4.

SPECIFICATIONS & PERFORMANCE

ENGINE & POWERTRAIN

The RS 4 Avant edition 25 years is powered by an uprated 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine producing 346 kW (470 PS) and 600 Nm of torqueโ€”an increase of 15 kW (20 PS) over the standard RS 4 Avant. Performance figures include:

  • 0โ€“100 km/h (0โ€“62 mph): 3.7 seconds (0.4 s quicker than the base model)
  • Top speed: 300 km/h (186 mph)

Standard equipment includes Audiโ€™s RS ceramic brake system and the RS sport exhaust system plus, featuring matte black tailpipes and an intensified exhaust note.

TRANSMISSION

The eight-speed tiptronic transmission receives updated software for faster shift times. Revised calibration also creates a broader distinction between selectable drive modes.

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION

The anniversary edition is equipped with RS sport suspension pro, a manually adjustable coilover system sourced from KW offering both performance and comfort tuning. The model sits 10 mm lower than the standard RS 4 Avant and can be manually lowered an additional 10 mm, yielding a total drop of 20 mm.

Additional enhancements include:

  • Increased front negative camber to two degrees
  • Stiffer front control arms
  • Fixed rear subframe for improved feedback
  • Updated Torsen centre differential
  • quattro sport differential with more rear-biased torque distribution in dynamic driving

These modifications provide increased agility, higher cornering limits, and sharper steering precision.

WHEELS, TIRES & TRACK PACKAGE

The edition 25 years is delivered with 20-inch forged alloy wheels in Palladium matte, derived from the RS 4 competition package and further weight-optimized through additional machining. Wheel offset is widened from ET 22 to ET 18 for a more aggressive stance.

Standard tire fitment includes:

  • Pirelli P Zero Corsa high-performance road/track tires

Customers also receive a secondary track-oriented package comprising:

  • 20-inch matte black alloy wheels
  • Pirelli sensorized P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick tires
  • Pirelli Track Adrenaline system, integrating tire sensors, a high-performance control unit, and a dedicated app with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support

The system provides real-time data on tire pressure, temperature, and recommended settings to optimize racetrack performance. Each vehicle is additionally supplied with Alpinestars racing gloves, co-branded in yellow to match the editionโ€™s visual theme.

DESIGN & EXTERIOR FEATURES

COLOR OPTIONS & TRIBUTE ELEMENTS

The modelโ€™s signature color, Imola Yellow, directly references the 2001 RS4 Sport. Two additional colorsโ€”Nardo Greyand Mythos Blackโ€”are offered.

Exterior design details unique to the edition include:

  • Gloss black Audi rings and model designation
  • Gloss black window trims
  • Darkened Matrix LED headlight bezels
  • Black inlay within the rear lights
  • Removal of roof rails for a lower visual profile
  • Engraved โ€œRS 4 edition 25 yearsโ€ side-window marking between the C- and D-pillars

A newly developed Carbon matte appearance package is exclusive to the anniversary model. It includes carbon-finished front blades, side flaps, sill extensions, diffuser elements, and mirror housings.

INTERIOR

The interior design heavily references the yellow-accented black leather and Alcantara of the RS4 Sport (B5). Features include:

  • Yellow contrast stitching across seats, armrests, steering wheel, console, and gear gaiter
  • RS bucket seats with carbon backs, honeycomb stitching, and yellow RS 4 embroidery
  • For the first time, RS 4 floor mats with matching yellow accents
  • Yellow Audi Sport rhombus and RS logos replacing the traditional red-black color scheme
  • Dark black Alcantara console trim

Each car features matte console lettering indicating its limited-edition build number (1โ€“250).

In tribute to the 1994 Audi RS2, the MMI allows drivers to select a white background for the digital tachometer and speedometer. Launch Control displays traffic-light-style icons signaling optimal throttle timing.

OPTIONAL STEERING WHEEL

Customers may order an Audi exclusive suede flat-bottom steering wheel with yellow center marking and contrast stitching. Audi recommends the use of gloves with this option, which is priced at 2,270 euros.
