SUMMARY
The AUDI E7X is a fully electric premium SUV developed for the Chinese market by AUDI, the China-exclusive sister brand to Audi, in partnership with SAIC Motor. It is the second production model introduced under the AUDI marque, following the AUDI E5 Sportback. The E7X is scheduled to make its public debut at Auto China 2026 in Beijing and will enter the Chinese market in the first half of 2026.
OVERVIEW
The AUDI E7X was conceived as part of Audi’s strategy to address additional customer segments within China, the world’s largest market for electric vehicles. Unlike global-market Audi models, vehicles from the AUDI brand do not use the traditional four-ring emblem. Instead, they feature a capital-letter wordmark that signals a distinct brand identity tailored specifically to Chinese consumer expectations.
The E7X continues the design direction previewed by the AUDI E SUV concept unveiled at Auto Guangzhou 2025, translating its futuristic proportions and lighting graphics into a production-ready form. It serves as the brand’s flagship SUV and complements Audi’s global portfolio with a product designed exclusively for China.
DEVELOPMENT
The AUDI E7X is built on the Advanced Digitized Platform, a vehicle architecture jointly developed by Audi and SAIC for next-generation intelligent connected vehicles. The platform supports high levels of software integration, over-the-air update capability, and seamless interaction with China’s digital ecosystem.
Development teams in Germany and China collaborated closely, allowing for reduced development cycles and rapid adaptation to emerging technologies. The project is overseen by Fermín Soneira, CEO of the Audi and SAIC cooperation initiative, who describes the E7X as “an SUV without compromises.”

DESIGN
The exterior design emphasizes clean surfaces, strong proportions, and modern lighting elements. Key dimensional specifications include:
- Length: 5,049 mm
- Width: 2,002 mm
- Height: 1,708 mm
- Wheelbase: 3,060 mm
The front fascia features digital Matrix LED headlights arranged vertically within a black wraparound frame, a signature element carried over from the E SUV concept. Sculpted wheel arches, short overhangs, and a monolithic body surface treatment contribute to a dynamic yet refined appearance.
POWERTRAIN & PERFORMANCE
The E7X will be offered with two fully electric powertrain configurations:
- 300 kW system output
- 500 kW system output
Both variants are engineered to deliver strong performance consistent with the broader Audi brand’s reputation for driving dynamics. Detailed battery specifications, range figures, and drivetrain layouts had not yet been published at the time of the vehicle’s initial announcement.
TECHNOLOGY & CONNECTIVITY
Vehicles produced under the AUDI brand are designed to integrate deeply into China’s digital environment. As such, the E7X is expected to support:
- Advanced in-car digital services
- AI-assisted user interfaces
- Cloud-based navigation and voice functions
- High-speed connectivity features unique to China’s app ecosystem
The model emphasizes software-driven functionality, aligning with consumer expectations in a market where digital user experience often outweighs mechanical complexity.

MARKET POSITIONING
The E7X occupies the upper tier of China’s domestic premium EV segment. It is intended for customers seeking a technologically advanced, spacious, and high-performance SUV with a design identity distinct from global-market Audi products.
Its launch accompanies the broader rollout of the AUDI brand, which entered the Chinese market in November 2024. Positioned as a complementary offering rather than a replacement, AUDI allows Audi to compete in additional segments while maintaining the integrity of its global brand.
DEBUT
- First public showing: Auto China 2026, Beijing
- Market launch: First half of 2026
The vehicle will be produced in China for the Chinese market as part of the Audi-SAIC joint development program.
