OVERVIEW

The AUDI E SUV concept is a large, all-electric premium SUV developed exclusively for the Chinese market under the AUDI sub-brand, a China-specific marque jointly created by Audi and SAIC. Unveiled at Auto Guangzhou, the concept previews the brand’s second production vehicle and represents a major step in Audi’s strategy to expand its electric portfolio for China with locally focused products, digital systems, and design language.

Positioned above the E5 Sportback, the E SUV concept is intended to serve as a flagship model for the AUDI lineup when its production version enters the market in 2026.

DEVELOPMENT BACKGROUND

The E SUV concept is built on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), a collaborative architecture that integrates Audi’s electric drivetrain and chassis expertise with SAIC’s strengths in software, connectivity, and user experience. Developed specifically for China’s fast-evolving EV market, ADP enables high-speed charging capability, advanced driver assistance functions, and a China-specific digital ecosystem.

The model is part of Audi’s broader “two-brand, two-partner” structure in China, which separates the global Audi brand (in partnership with FAW) from the AUDI sub-brand (in partnership with SAIC). The E SUV concept serves as one of the early milestones of this new strategy.

DESIGN

The exterior styling of the AUDI E SUV concept follows the new design direction introduced by the AUDI brand. The vehicle measures 5,057 mm in length, 2,042 mm in width, 1,786 mm in height, and rides on a 3,060 mm wheelbase, placing it among the largest electric SUVs in Audi’s China portfolio.

Design characteristics include a monolithic body surface, short overhangs, and a strong, upright stance. The concept adopts wraparound lighting graphics at the front and rear and uses vertically oriented digital Matrix LED headlights housed within a black frame. Sculpted wheel arches and clean surfacing contribute to a dynamic appearance even at rest.

POWERTRAIN & PERFORMANCE

The E SUV concept employs a dual-motor electric drivetrain with one motor at each axle, producing a combined output of 500 kW. Power is delivered through a single-speed transmission to a quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is approximately five seconds. Peak torque has not yet been disclosed.

A 109-kWh high-voltage battery provides a targeted driving range of over 700 km (CLTC). The vehicle supports 800-volt charging, enabling recovery of up to 320 km of range in roughly ten minutes at compatible fast-charging stations.

TECHNOLOGY & DRIVER ASSISTANCE

The concept introduces the AUDI 360 Driving Assist System, a suite of advanced driver assistance technologies developed specifically for Chinese road conditions. The system integrates highway driving support, urban traffic assistance, and next-generation automated parking functions.

The production version of the E SUV is scheduled to premiere in 2026, with market launch to follow the same year.

MARKET POSITION & LAUNCH

The AUDI E SUV concept represents the second major model under the AUDI brand, following the launch of the E5 Sportback in 2025. It is aimed at the large electric SUV segment, a rapidly expanding category within China’s premium market.
