Audi continues its very active summer of reveals, and the latest teasers suggest we’re getting something Avant-shaped tomorrow. Audi has released a teaser image of a car shrouded in darkness, seen in our header above, while Audi-focused YouTube personality Auditography has shared one of his own showing a covered vehicle.
The caption that goes with the teaser – “Ready for big emotions? 16.06.2026.”
Naturally, the guessing has already begun, with the most popular theories being the RS 6 Avant or the A6 allroad. Examining the wheel arch flares visible in Auditography’s image, many observers believe the car doesn’t appear aggressively wide enough to be an RS 6. Another clue emerged on social media when a user commented, “A6 allroad?” and received a reply from Audi’s official account stating, “You spotted it.” That would seem to make the allroad a certainty.
I’m not entirely convinced.
While the Auditography photo does appear narrower than one might expect from an RS 6, we’re hearing — and recent spy photography seems to support — that the upcoming A6 allroad is nearly as wide as the RS 6. If true, either model would likely appear noticeably broader than a standard A6. Then again, the heavy camouflage and low-light presentation may simply be disguising the car’s proportions.
Another possibility is the S6 e-tron performance, the enhanced A6 e-tron variant previously expected to wear the RS 6 e-tron badge. That model remains under development, though reports suggest it was repositioned as an S6 after executives concluded its performance characteristics were more appropriate for Audi’s S-car lineup. Time will tell on that one.
My best guess, however, remains the RS 6.
Why? The clue may be hiding in Audi’s original teaser image. Behind the vehicle is a glowing red rhombus. Thus far, that design element has only appeared in association with products from Audi Sport GmbH.
What do we know for certain?
We’ll find out tomorrow.
