Audi at Auto China 2026

Audi used Auto China 2026 as more than a traditional product showcase. Instead, the brand’s presence reflected a two-track strategy: reinforcing its long-standing position in China with locally tailored core models while accelerating a new, China-specific electric and digital sub-brand developed alongside SAIC Motor.

TWO-PRONGUED STRATEGY FOR CHINA

At the center of Audi’s Auto China presence is the continued evolution of its China-first approach. That strategy is now anchored by a deepened partnership with SAIC and the expansion of a dedicated innovation ecosystem in Shanghai.

Audi confirmed plans for a new Innovation & Technology Center developed in cooperation with SAIC, focused on intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). The facility will handle everything from R&D to full vehicle development, with an emphasis on AI-driven interiors, advanced driver assistance systems and digital ecosystems tailored specifically to Chinese users.

The initiative supports a new generation of models built on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), with four all-new vehicles already planned.

NEW AUDI (ALL CAPS) BRAND GAINS VISIBILITY

Auto China 2026 also marked a key public moment for Audi’s newer China-specific sub-brand, stylized as “AUDI.” First introduced in 2024, the brand is designed to target a younger, tech-focused customer base in China’s rapidly evolving EV market.

Two core products defined its presence:

  • AUDI E5 Sportback – the first production model from the sub-brand, launched in 2025
  • AUDI E7X – making its public debut as the brand’s first SUV

The E7X, in particular, highlights Audi’s pivot toward in-cabin digital experiences and rear-seat comfort, both critical factors in the Chinese premium segment. The model is positioned as a flagship expression of the “Best of Both Worlds” philosophy—combining Audi engineering with China-specific software and user interface development.

A6L CONTINUES AS CORE MARKET ANCHOR

While the future-facing AUDI lineup drew attention, the traditional Audi portfolio remains central to the brand’s volume and identity in China. The latest Audi A6L served as that anchor at the show.

The updated A6L blends established executive sedan cues with locally developed technology:

  • Powertrains include updated 2.0T and 3.0T engines from the EA888 and V6 families
  • Integration of Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent driving system with dual LiDAR
  • Adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering
  • A cabin designed specifically for Chinese buyers, including enhanced rear-seat comfort and materials

Audi positions the A6L as a “full-scenario” luxury sedan, balancing business, family and personal use—an approach that aligns closely with how premium vehicles are typically used in China.
