2026 Goodwood Members’ Meeting with Several Audi Points of Interest

Built around the Goodwood Road Racing Club, the venue’s Members’ Meeting leans into a an intimate, access-driven experience that feels closer to an exclusive private race weekend than a public festival of motorsport.

Founded by Charles Gordon-Lennox, the idea has always been to recreate the atmosphere of the original BARC Members’ Meetings from the 1950s and 1960s. That translates today into a mix of proper wheel-to-wheel racing, period-correct demonstrations and just enough off-track nonsense—duck herding, ferret racing, the usual Goodwood things—to keep it from taking itself too seriously.

For 2026, the 83rd running delivered exactly that balance, with a full weekend of racing and demonstrations, all run on sustainable fuel.

SUPER TOURING STEALS THE SHOW (AGAIN)

If there was a central theme this year, it was touring cars—specifically the Super Touring era. More than 40 cars from the 1990s and early 2000s were brought together, forming one of the largest gatherings of the category in recent memory.

The Audi A4 B5 Super Touring was part of that mix, representing one of the brand’s most important circuit racing chapters and performance so dominating in 1996 that the car swept every series in which it was entered around the globe. While Group B tends to dominate the Audi conversation, the Super Touring era is arguably just as significant—showcasing quattro’s adaptability in a completely different environment.

Nostalgia for this era Audi A4 super touring burns particularly bright thanks to Frank Biela’s own 1996 championship-winning performance in the British Touring Car Championship. Interestingly, the car at Goodwood appears to have been Emanuele Pirro’s silver-mirrored STW (German) championship-winning car.

Seeing those cars not just on display but pushed in anger—culminating in a shootout won by Rob Huff—is exactly the kind of thing Goodwood does better than anyone.

TOM KRISTENSEN IN THE MIX

Then there’s Tom Kristensen.

The nine-time Le Mans winner isn’t just an Audi legend and one of the most prominent ambassadors of the brand. At Goodwood, Tom continues to serve as one of four House Captains.

If that sounds like Hogwarts then you’re not far off. The imaginary Harry Potter school is based heavily on the English boarding school experience and it’s that very experience that Goodwood also aims to harken with its house structure. You see, if you’re a member at Goodwood then you’re also a member of a house.

As House Captain for Team Darnley, Tom ultimately collected the House Trophy.

It’s a fun Goodwood detail relatively unique to Goodwood—blending top-tier racing pedigree into a format that’s as much about camaraderie as competition.

For those who maybe feel more kinship for the House of Audi, Kristensen’s presence is enough to create a throughline between eras. From dominant LMP1 runs at Le Mans to a relaxed but competitive role as motorsport statesman at Goodwood, it reinforces how interconnected these worlds really are.

THE BROADER APPEAL

Beyond the Audi-adjacent highlights, the Members’ Meeting remains one of the more diverse events on the calendar. 1970s Formula 1 cars returned to the track in tribute to James Hunt, while 500cc Grand Prix bikes honored Barry Sheene.

Elsewhere, Jenson Button reunited with his championship-winning Brawn GP car, and grids ranging from pre-1963 Jaguars to Can-Am monsters filled out the racing program.

It’s a wide net, but it never feels unfocused.

WHY YOU SHOULD TRY TO ATTEND

The Goodwood Members’ Meeting isn’t an Audi event, and it doesn’t try to be. But that’s part of the appeal.

Between the Super Touring presence, the occasional Audi entries woven into broader grids and figures like Kristensen embedded in the event itself, there’s always something to anchor the experience if that’s where your interest lies.

More importantly, it places Audi’s history in context—alongside the eras, competitors and disciplines that shaped it.

And that’s something you don’t always get when you stay inside the brand bubble.
