Audi is expanding its factory-backed historic racing program for 2026, building on early demand for its newly launched Audi Sport racing legends initiative.
Launched in 2025, the program focuses on the sale and support of former factory race cars, including DTM touring cars and Le Mans prototypes. Audi says demand has exceeded expectations, with initial sales already completed and additional cars currently being prepared for delivery.
For 2026, the program will expand its footprint with appearances at four major European events, marking its most comprehensive public schedule to date.

EARLY SALES SIGNAL STRONG DEMAND
Audi confirmed that, within the first year, it has already sold three Class 1-era DTM cars and one LMP prototype. That group includes an Audi R18 e-tron quattro and three Audi RS 5 DTM models.
According to Audi Sport managing director Rolf Michl, interest has been strong enough to create delivery delays as additional cars are prepared. Mechanics and engineers are currently working through further restorations and build programs to meet demand.
The brand also notes growing attention from collectors toward earlier endurance racing models, including the Audi R10 TDI, which will feature in event displays this season.

CLASS ONE REVIVAL DRIVING MOMENTUM
A key factor behind the program’s momentum is the emergence of the CLASS ONE Revival series, which brings together touring cars from the 1993–2020 era.
The series has created a new competitive outlet for former DTM machinery, directly increasing demand for Audi’s Class 1-era race cars. Audi has aligned its 2026 calendar accordingly, with three CLASS ONE Revival appearances scheduled.
At the season-opening round during the ADAC Hockenheim Historic, two RS 5 DTM cars will compete, including chassis 114, previously raced by Nico Müller. Müller is set to return to the cockpit of his former car, which he drove to DTM runner-up finishes in 2019 and 2020.

ANNUAL FORMAT NOW FOR LE MANS CLASSIC
Audi will also maintain a presence at the Le Mans Classic, which transitions to an annual schedule starting in 2026.
The event alternates between pre-1975 “Heritage” entries and later-era “Legend” cars, with Audi’s LMP-era prototypes positioned as a focal point for collectors and spectators. Both the R18 e-tron quattro and R10 TDI are expected to feature in the brand’s display.
FULL 2026 EVENT CALENDAR
The Audi Sport racing legends program will appear at four events across three countries:
- May 8–10 – ADAC Hockenheim Historic (Germany)
- July 2–5 – Le Mans Classic (France)
- August 7–9 – Belmot Oldtimer Grand Prix (Germany)
- August 29–30 – Red Bull Ring Classics (Austria)
LOOKING BEYOND 2026
Audi indicates that demand for its historic race cars extends beyond the current season, with additional builds and restorations already planned.
The program reflects a broader trend in the collector market, where factory-supported access to authentic race cars—paired with technical backing and track opportunities—continues to gain traction among high-end buyers.
