Finds of the Week: Apparel for Audi Aficionados

When it comes to showing your affinity for your brand or tribe, there’s a full spectrum of what’s may be found appealing. There’s the obvious, the logo mark on something you wear made and sold by the brand itself, or perhaps by a partner or sponsored team. There’s the totally unofficial and likely liability tragic of the unlicensed unofficial official gear. Finally, there’s stuff that unintentionally fits the theme with the right colors, patterns or vibe.

Whatever place it might be on the spectrum, it’s likely anyone who really digs what the Audi brand has been about will likely find these sorts of things interesting. I do, and so I’m sharing some of my favorites here.

One last thing. Before I dig into this, I’ll address the usual hate mail I’d get when we ran these sorts of Choice Gear items in quattro. Sourcing these items isn’t always easy. For instance, pieces from Audi collection Deutschland aren’t always sold via the Audi collection USA store. To get them, you might have to visit an Audi Forum or dealership in Europe, or find a reseller selling them on Ebay.

I can’t control these factors, however I can give you advice. First, if you’re resourceful and motivated then seek and you shall find. Second, when all else fails, try Ebay and set up search notifications. Finally, I’m going to include a couple of my favorite sources for these cars in here. Hopefully that helps.

What: Beartooth Jac-Shirt by Filson
Link: Filson.com

Why: This isn’t an Audi branded piece, nor is it automotive. Even still, the colors are very close to the original Audi Sport tri-colore red/tan/brown rhombus of the 1980s. Its rural cut and look also looks period enough that, to this eye at least, seems to hark the era from which the Audi quattro spawned.

What: Audi Sport Rain Jacket by Audi collection Deutschland
Link: Audi-collection.com

Why: With warmer weather and spring showers comes the need for a light rain jacket. Audi collection Deutschland comes through with one (the red one worn by the guy on the right) featuring rhombus texture pattern that’s subtle enough to go unnoticed by all but the most brand aware… and even they might miss it lest they catch the Audi Sport logo on the zipper pull. It also stows into a matching bag, making it handy to keep in your glovebox just in case you get caught out driving in the rain.

photo: TAG Heuer

What: Monaco Split Seconds Chronograph | F1 by TAG Heuer
Link: TAGHeuer.com

Why: One of the latest results of the long-running pairing of Formula 1 and watchmaker TAG Heuer is the Monaco Split Seconds Chronograph. Based on the Monaco that first rocketed to icon status following its wearing by Steve McQueen in the movie Le Mans, the Split Seconds takes the classic design and evolves it in a very eye-catching way. Obviously, Audi Sport is headed to F1 next season, while several of the released specifications are very close to Audi Sport colors.

What: Audi Oval Cap by Audi Tradition
Link: Audi-Tradition-Parts.de

Why: Ask anyone with a vintage Audi, Audi Tradition isn’t currently shipping to the USA. Blame the U.S. dealer network whose lobbying advocates makes it more complicated than it needs to be. In the meantime, should you want this clean-looking black hat sporting the classic Audi red oval logo, swing by the Audi Tradition shop at the museum mobile in Ingolstadt or upstairs at the Audi Forum Neckarsulm.

What: Audi Unisex Soft Shell Hoodie by Audi collection Deutschland
Link: Audi-collection.com

Why: Part of Audi collection’s German market lineup, this fleece-lined soft-shell hoodie features double-sided zipper pocket and subtle branding that won’t scream brand fanatic.

What: Audi Sport Moisture Wicking Cap by Audi collection USA
Link: Audi-collectionUSA.com

Why: From Audi Collection USA’s offerings and easily shippable around the U.S. is this moisture-wicking baseball cap complete with Audi Sport logo.

What: Audi 80’s Style Retro Rally Jacket by Memory Motorsport
Link: MemoryMotorsport.com

Why: From the not entirely clear it’s officially licensed department comes this retro-inspired recreation of an Audi Sport jacket that appears as if it’s from the rally, Trans-Am or IMSA GTO eras. It’s puffy and it features the vintage tri-colore logo, though alas no zip-out sleeves like the originals once did.

What: Audi Heritage Tee by Audi collection USA
Link: Audi-collectionUSA.com

Why: From

Intentional patina is a thing, something printed to look period. This tee from Audi collection USA takes that approach to the 80s era red oval logo of that period – the so-called Audi football logo.

What: Stake Sauber F1 Team 2025 Team Cap
Link: Formula1.com

Audi isn’t yet on the F1 grid as a brand just yet, but its ownership of Sauber places their personnel there even if an Audi-powered car is not. Get in on the team building early by wearing some Sauber swag a year before the four rings arrive.

What: Glass Ceiling Breaker T-Shirt by NeuLivery
Link: TeePublic.com

When Michèle Mouton won the Pike’s Peak International Hillclimb outright in 1985, she broke through a glass ceiling 14,115′ above sea level and shattered it with that iconic Audi Sport racing helmet. This Tee design from NeuLivery celebrates that victory.

What: Rally Legend 2-Piece Pajamas by Gearhead Kids
Link: Gearhead-Kids.com

Add another item to the pile of kid’s clothes you really wish someone would make for adults too. This time, it’s a set of pajamas featuring fabric with Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 imagery. Pretty rad. So, until they make them for adults, pick some up for your favorite kiddo after the jump.

What: quattro Born to Win Tee by Audi Tradition
Link: Audi-Tradition-Parts.de

One more item from that German market Audi Tradition storefront that you’ll need to either secure abroad or find a way to ship to the USA. It’s still cool, so it needed to be included.

What: The Shop Shirt by Taylor Stitch
Link: TaylorStitch.com

There’s no Audi branding here at all, but a work shirt is a work shirt and this one, at least to my eye, really harks the Audi dealership mechanic uniform shirt of the 1980s. That’s especially case if you opt for one of their solid designs. I opted to include the stripes, because they’re new and a little more fashionable.

What: This One Counts Tee by Carpe Viam
Link: CarpeGear.com

1-2-3 in German, four in a graphic shot of an S1 E2. Of course, that’s visual for 4 in Italian. It’s a clever visual gag and it is appreciated. Well played Carpe Viam.

What: Cord Bill Cap by Audi collection USA
Link: Audi collection USA

While Audi’s four ring logo is front and center, it’s still easy to appreciate the subtlety of this low-profile cap with corduroy visor. Even better, it’s for sale in the USA and so easily accessible.
