Audi has confirmed UK pricing and specification for the all-new RS 5 range, with order books now open for both the Saloon and Avant ahead of first customer deliveries this summer. Starting at £89,400 for the Saloon and £91,300 for the Avant, the new generation marks a significant milestone as the first RS model to adopt a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
THREE UK TRIMS
UK buyers will have three specification levels to choose from across both body styles.
The standard RS 5 already arrives with an extensive equipment list that includes 20-inch forged alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, Bang & Olufsen 3D audio, head-up display, 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit, 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen, 10.9-inch passenger display, heated, ventilated and massage-equipped sport seats, Dynamic Ride Control suspension, quattro sport differential, adaptive cruise assist plus and a full suite of driver assistance technologies.
The Carbon Black model adds 21-inch forged wheels, carbon fiber exterior trim, carbon mirror housings and carbon interior inlays, giving the car a more aggressive appearance without altering its mechanical specification.
At the top of the range sits the performance Vorsprung, which receives unique RS performance bumpers, a carbon camouflage exterior package, Phantom Black forged wheels, panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency, second-generation Digital OLED rear lights, premium Bang & Olufsen audio with integrated headrest speakers, rear seat heating, remote park assist, direct tire pressure monitoring and the higher 177 mph top speed.
NEW RS-SPECIFIC TECHNOLOGY
Beyond the hybrid drivetrain, Audi has introduced several technologies unique to the latest RS 5.
A new rear electromechanical torque vectoring system debuts alongside an updated quattro drivetrain featuring a center differential with preload function. Audi says the system can redistribute torque between the rear wheels within milliseconds to improve agility and cornering precision.
Drivers also gain access to a new Audi driving experience performance analysis feature that records lap times, sector splits, throttle and brake application, G-forces, and vehicle balance. Track profiles for major racing circuits are included, while custom circuits can be automatically created during track use.
Inside, the RS-specific digital displays include dedicated performance instrumentation showing engine speed, temperatures, tire pressures and a shift light for the eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, along with real-time displays illustrating power flow between the V6 engine and electric motor.
