Audi has introduced a mid-lifecycle update for the Q4 e-tron, focusing on efficiency gains, expanded charging capability and a revised digital interior. The model remains Audi’s entry point into its EV range and continues to be offered in both SUV and Sportback body styles with rear-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive.

POWERTRAIN & EFFICIENCY UPDATES
The update centers on a revised rear-mounted permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM), now branded internally as the “APP350.” It is paired with updated power electronics using silicon carbide semiconductors, reducing switching losses and improving efficiency, particularly under partial load conditions.
Audi states overall drivetrain efficiency improves by roughly 10 percent compared to the outgoing model. Additional gains come from software optimization and a revised transmission lubricant designed to reduce friction, with measurable benefits in colder conditions.

Range increases vary by configuration:
Rear-wheel-drive models with the 63 kWh battery gain roughly 30 km
Quattro variants improve between 16 and 32 km depending on specification
The Q4 Sportback e-tron performance reaches up to 592 km (WLTP)
Output spans from 150 kW to 250 kW depending on model, with 0–100 km/h times ranging from 8.1 seconds to 5.4 seconds.

CHARGING PERFORMANCE & BATTERY OPTIONS
Two battery sizes remain available:
63 kWh (gross)
82 kWh (gross)
Charging capability has been increased on higher-spec quattro models:
DC fast charging rises from 175 kW to 185 kW
10–80% charging is achievable in approximately 27 minutes
Up to 185 km of range can be added in 10 minutes under optimal conditions
Battery preconditioning is now available manually or automatically. Plug & Charge functionality is also standard, allowing automatic authentication and billing at compatible charging stations.

BIDIRECTIONAL CHARGING INTRODUCED
The Q4 e-tron becomes the first Audi model to support bidirectional charging.
Two use cases are enabled:
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): External devices can be powered via a trunk outlet or charging port adapter (2.3 kW or up to 3.6 kW depending on configuration)
Vehicle-to-Home (V2H): Available in select European markets, allowing the vehicle to act as a home energy storage unit when paired with a compatible DC wallbox
Energy discharge is limited to a state of charge between 20% and 80% and is tracked in the vehicle interface as a mileage-equivalent metric.

INTERIOR & INFOTAINMENT OVERHAUL
The interior receives a full update centered around a new “digital stage” layout:
11.9-inch digital instrument cluster
12.8-inch central MMI touchscreen
Optional 12-inch passenger display
The system runs on Android Automotive OS and introduces Audi’s “One Connected Infotainment” platform. A voice assistant with integrated ChatGPT functionality allows expanded natural language interaction and access to general information.
Additional updates include:
Augmented reality head-up display with layered visual projection
Two cooled wireless charging pads (15W each)
Expanded USB-C connectivity front and rear
New dashboard architecture with full-width softwrap material
Ambient lighting has also been expanded with optional dynamic interaction lighting integrated below the windshield.

DRIVER ASSISTANCE & USABILITY
The updated Q4 e-tron adds or expands several driver assistance features:
Standard: parking system plus, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, front assist with emergency braking
Optional: adaptive driving assistant plus with lane guidance and assisted lane changes above 90 km/h
Trained parking and remote parking functions
Surround view cameras and enhanced hazard recognition
Use of online data enables lane guidance even where road markings are unclear.
EXTERIOR REVISIONS & LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY
Exterior changes are incremental, with updates to front and rear detailing, new wheel designs and additional color options. The Singleframe grille is now body-colored.
Lighting technology is expanded:
Digital LED daytime running lights with selectable signatures
Second-generation digital OLED rear lights with segmented animation
Proximity detection that alerts following traffic when stationary
Up to four selectable light signatures are available depending on specification.

PRACTICALITY & PACKAGING
Cargo and utility figures remain competitive within the segment:
515 liters of trunk space, expanding to 1,487 liters with rear seats folded
Trailer capacity increased to 1,800 kg on quattro models (+400 kg)
Additional interior storage totaling approximately 25 liters
An electric tailgate is now standard.
MARKET POSITION & EUROPEAN AVAILABLITY
European ordering opens in May, with deliveries scheduled for summer. Pricing in Germany starts at €47,500 for the entry-level SUV with the smaller battery, with higher-spec quattro and Sportback variants positioned above that range.
This update focuses on incremental gains rather than structural changes. Efficiency improvements, faster charging and the addition of bidirectional capability are the primary technical updates, while the interior and infotainment revisions bring the Q4 e-tron closer to Audi’s newer EV interface standards.
