More Intel on Track-Focused RS 3 Special Edition

One last bit of intel dropped by Autocar this week is the revisiting of the idea of a final more extreme variant of the RS 3. We touched on this rumor months ago when the car turned up as a test prototype at the Nürburgring, then this site ran renderings of an RS 3 GT, and now Autocar’s Greg Kable seems to know a bit more.

According to Kable, the car is more of a “track-focused” special edition. The variant, in Sportback guise, has been spied testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and is said to arrive in Europe later this year.

Upgrades include a slight power upgrade, bigger brakes and a more aggressive appearance says Autocar. The test mule’s appearance was pretty close to current production, though it did feature aerodynamic flicks at the front.

Will it come to the North America? If it did, it would need to be also built as a sedan. The U.S. and Canada don’t get the Sportback, though given RS competition plus package that underpinned the 25th anniversary RS 4 last season was fitted to both RS 4 and RS 5, it’s likely an RS 3 Sedan fitting this specification wouldn’t be that big a lift for Audi.
