F1 + 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed to Celebrate 75 Years of Championship

F1 will join with the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 10-13) to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the F1 world championship series. While typically a featured brand takes the forefront on the celebrated theme of the year, for 2025 it will be the F1 racing series.

F1 Plans at the Festival of Speed
The celebration will be broken down into the following six classes:

Prologue will look back beyond 1950, to the inaugural AIACR Manufacturers’ World Championship of 1925, showcasing Grand Prix racing before the creation of the Formula 1 World Championship. It is during this period that Auto Union raced in the era prior to the formulation of F1 with their Type A, Type B, Type C and Type D – also known as the “Silver Arrows”

The Pioneers will chart the first decade of the Formula 1 World Championship, when it grew from humble beginnings to become the most coveted prize in motorsport.

The Innovators will celebrate the series’ rich history of technical innovation, with teams and designers always looking to gain an advantage over their rivals.

The Underdogs is dedicated to lesser-known names – some of whom conquered seemingly insurmountable odds; others who dropped out of the race.

The Champions will focus on drivers, teams, and cars that have claimed the ultimate prize, with at least eight World Champions scheduled to attend.

The Teams will welcome the sport’s current teams, drivers, and cars.

This will be the largest celebration ever staged at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, taking over the event with nearly 100 Formula 1 cars, special moments around the estate, including drivers and team members, designers and other notable figures behind the sport.

The Festival of Speed in Goodwood (July 10–13, 2025) attracts motorsport fans from around the world. Audi Tradition will be there to celebrate the first Audi victory at Le Mans 25 years ago – together with Le Mans legends Tom Kristensen and Rinaldo “Dindo” Capello.

Previously Confirmed Audi Plans at the Festival of Speed
The announcement of the F1 tie-in at Goodwood just came in this week, so it’s unclear if Audi or Audi Tradition had included a Formula 1 focus in their 2025 Festival of Speed. Earlier in the year when Audi Tradition announced its 2025 calendar, it did confirm Audi would take part in the event.

At the time, plans for Goodwood included Audi Tradition celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Audi’s first win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans by bringing Le Mans legends Tom Kristensen and Dindo Capello. They also confirmed the Auto Union Type 52 that debuted at last year’s event would be driven in the hillclimb by Hans-Joachim Stuck alongside some of Audi’s Le Mans race cars. No further mention of Auto Union was made in that announcement, though clearly Auto Union has its own history in that “Prologue” element mentioned by event organizers.

This story will be updated if Audi Tradition communicates any further changes to this already robust lineup.
