ADAC Heidelberg Historic to Make Audi Forum Neckarsulm Stop

Just in case you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Audi Forum Neckarsulm on July 5th, you’ll want to take note of a not-to-miss gathering. On that day, the Audi Forum will host the arrival of 190 historic vehicles on the venue’s Piazza.

In case you aren’t familiar with it, the ADAC Heidelberg Historic is one of the largest classic car rallies in Germany. Its route starts at the Technik Museum Sinsheim and makes its way through Neckarsulm where the Audi Forum there is also a can’t miss for these rallyists.

Audi Tradition has been a longtime supporter of the ADAC Heidelberg Historic, involvement that also regularly includes several historic entries from the corporate collection they manage.

Cars will be on display at the Piazza in front of the Audi Forum Neckarsulm from 12:00-4:30 PM. There, around 190 cars participating in the rally will arrive one at a time where they will then take a lunch break as a host reveals details about the cars and their drivers for attending guests.

“In a year that the Audi Forum Neckarsulm celebrates its 20th anniversary, I am particularly pleased that the renowned classic car rally is once again stopping by us at the Audi Forum. I wish all participating teams and spectators a lot of fun,” says Ulla Wiesentheit, head of the Audi Forum Neckarsulm.

Anniversaries were also the theme for Audi Tradition in their decision making for just which of their historic collection vehicles would participate in the rally. In addition, and keeping with the Neckarsulm theme, the Neckarsulm-built NSU Ro 80 will also be present.

OTHER EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHTS

In addition to the rally stop, Audi Tradition will also be opening a special exhibition entitled “Glanzstücke” highlighting the Audi brand’s focus on design and lightweight construction.

Aluminum, and underlying theme at Audi over decades, will play a key role in this display. This will include the Auto Union Type C Avus of the 1930s, the polished Audi R8 show car built years ago for Audi’s 100th anniversary, and the Audi A2 that was developed and built in Neckarsulm.

Elsewhere, NSU motorcycles will be on display, highlighting that brand’s local history in lightweight construction of two-wheeled transportation. Also, a hans-on display for children will be set up in the movie hall while food and drinks will be available in the forum’s Nuvolari restaurant.

MORE TO SEE AUDI FORUM NECKARSULM

Beyond these highlighted activities, the Audi Forum Neckarsulm should be on your list to see on any other day. While not as expansive as the Audi Forum Ingolstadt, the forum in Neckarsulm has several unique features worth checking out.

On the ground level is typically a display of special production cars near the customer delivery center. Moving up a floor in this vast open structure via escalator or glass elevator, you’ll find an Audi collection shop we’d argue rivals that of Ingolstadt, and an expansive Audi exclusive showroom of tailored four-ring automobiles that is unique in the Audi world.

Go up another level and you’ll find even more, including a special Audi Tradition display and another impressively stocked shop – this time with a focus on Audi Tradition.

Just down the road is also the Deutsches Zweirad- und NSU-Museum, another museum dedicated to NSU with a motorcycle focus.
