Audi Teases New A6 Sedan, Confirms Reveal Timing

While it won’t be altogether surprising given the Avant version was fully revealed a few weeks ago, Audi has gone ahead and dropped a lone teaser image of the upcoming sedan version along with some brief details including timing and a link to their reveal event.

First, here’s what they said:

PRESS RELEASE | AUDI SHARES FIRST DETAILED LOOK AT THE NEW A6 SEDAN

Audi will celebrate the world premiere of the new A6 Sedan on April 15. The classic business sedan sets standards in design and aerodynamics and brings innovation and comfort to life in the premium full-size class. Now there is a first detailed look at the vehicle.

With the A6 Sedan, Audi is expanding its successful model family and demonstrating how form and function join in perfect harmony to create a first-class driving experience. Strides have been made through meticulous attention to detail: The lower the drag, the higher the efficiency. The better the aeroacoustics, the greater the driving comfort. The more balanced the suspension and drive, the more precise, controlled, and dynamic the driving experience. The new A6 Sedan is outstanding in every respect.

Note for editorial offices:
Audi invites the media and the public to be present when the new A6 Sedan is shown for the first time. The presentation will take place here on April 15 at 2:00 p.m.: https://we.audi/a6sedanreveal

A6 SEDAN WHAT WE’RE STILL WONDERING

As you may recall, this internal combustion C9 from Audi was supposed to move to A7 nomenclature under the previous EVs-go-even-ICE-goes-odd naming structure where the A6 e-tron would be sold alongside an internal combustion A7 range. Now, they’re both named A6.

At the same time, the new A5 that replaced internal combustion A4 and A5 models and was launched prior to the evens-odds pivot, dropped both its notchback sedan configuration and its coupe-like Sportback profile. This new A5 replacement looks more like a sedan, but has a hatchback style rear opening like the Sportback. And… it’s called A5 Sedan.

Second-generation digital OLED rear lights are used in the new Audi A6 Sedan (shown here in Firmament blue metallic).

Confused? Yeah, that’s probably natural. I am too.

So, while we wait for that to sort itself out and Audi to make clear what is and isn’t a Sedan or Sportback, what we do know is that this new car set to be revealed on April 15 at 2:00 PM Ingolstadt domestic time (8:00 AM EST) is called “A6 Sedan”. We also know from test mule photos that it’s more of a notchback in profile than the outgoing A7 Sportback. Will it have a hatch like the B10 A5?

I suppose we’ll find out on April 15. Audi shares that you can watch that reveal here:  https://we.audi/a6sedanreveal.

Obviously, there will be a full rundown of the information revealed published on this website after the fact.
