Formula 1 and the FIA have confirmed the calendar for the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship, setting the schedule for Audi Revolut F1 Team’s second season on the grid. The championship remains at 24 Grands Prix across 22 countries, but expands considerably on the Sprint side with 10 Sprint weekends, up from six in 2026.
The season begins in Bahrain on March 12–14 following four days of pre-season testing at the same circuit February 24–27. Saudi Arabia follows before the championship heads to Australia, Japan and China, then crosses the Pacific for Miami and Canada. Monaco opens the European portion of the schedule in June, followed by the return of Portugal at Portimão.
After Silverstone, Austria, Spa and Hungary, the summer break leads directly into another Monza-Madrid doubleheader on September 3–5 and September 10–12. Türkiye also returns, with Istanbul Park scheduled for October 1–3 between Azerbaijan and Singapore, subject to FIA circuit homologation. The final stretch takes teams through Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo and Las Vegas before concluding with Qatar and Abu Dhabi in December.
MORE SPRINTS, LESS PRACTICE
Perhaps the biggest operational change is the expansion to 10 Sprint weekends. Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi will host Sprints for the first time, joining returning Sprint venues Montréal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo and Lusail. That means nearly 42 percent of the season’s race weekends will now use the Sprint format.
Sprint weekends provide only a single free-practice session before competitive running begins, putting greater emphasis on simulation work and arriving at the circuit with a usable baseline setup. Audi will at least have a season of experience at most venues by then, while Portimão and Istanbul Park add two circuits the team will not have raced during its 2026 debut campaign.
