Gabriel Bortoleto led Audi’s Friday practice running at the United States Grand Prix, finishing eighth in FP1 with a 1:36.995 before placing 11th in FP2 with a 1:36.832. He completed 50 laps across two trouble-free sessions, gathering data and showing encouraging pace at Circuit of the Americas. However, a grid penalty means he will start from the back, shifting the emphasis toward preparing for a recovery drive on Sunday.
Nico Hülkenberg finished 18th in both sessions, recording a 1:38.122 in FP1 and improving to 1:37.430 in FP2 while completing 47 laps. His day also ran without issues as Audi tested setup options across the two sessions. The team will now assess those changes ahead of qualifying, with Hülkenberg seeking gains that could move him into contention in a closely matched midfield.

TEAM QUOTES

Nico Hulkenberg, Car #27
FP1: 18th / 1:38.122 (21 laps)
FP2: 18th / 1:37.430 (26 laps)
“Today was a pretty straightforward Friday without any issues. We tried a few things across FP1 and FP2 and learnt a bit along the way. Now it’s about going through everything and putting a good plan together for qualifying tomorrow. The midfield looks tight, as ever, so hopefully we can get ourselves in the mix for a good starting position.”

Gabriel Bortoleto, Car #5
FP1: 8th / 1:36.995 (23 laps)
FP2: 11th / 1:36.832 (27 laps)
“Overall, it was a regular day in the office. We had two clean sessions, with decent pace, and we got quite a good amount of data on how our car is performing here. Of course, knowing we’ll have a grid penalty puts us in a slightly different position going into the rest of the weekend, as we already know we will be starting from the back, which is obviously a shame especially when the car feels good. But that is part of the game, and I am still confident we can do a decent job and get the most out of qualifying tomorrow.”
