There may not be an official Audi logo anywhere on the dial, but Union Glashütte’s latest limited-edition chronograph will likely catch the attention of Audi enthusiasts all the same. Introduced as the Averin Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2026, the 350-piece special edition appears to draw inspiration from one of motorsport’s most recognizable color combinations—a white base accented by red and shades of gray that closely echo the iconic Audi Sport tri-color livery made famous during the brand’s rally, IMSA and Trans-Am campaigns.
It’s not the first time the German watchmaker has ventured into territory that feels familiar to Audi fans. Previous Union Glashütte Sachsen Classic editions have also carried design cues reminiscent of Audi’s competition heritage without being officially licensed by the automaker. This latest model continues that trend, pairing its motorsport-inspired palette with a square 41 mm stainless steel cushion case and a dial whose recessed chronograph registers resemble the gauges of a vintage race car. A bright red chronograph seconds hand further reinforces the performance theme.
Mechanically, the watch is powered by Union Glashütte’s automatic UNG-27.S2 movement, featuring a silicon balance spring, a chronograph complication and a power reserve of at least 65 hours. Sapphire crystal protects the dial while a display caseback offers a view of the movement. Water resistance is rated to 100 meters.
Each watch is delivered with two interchangeable straps: a bright red rubber strap for a more contemporary sporting look and a gray suede leather strap with racing-style perforations and red accents that better complements the vintage motorsport inspiration. Quick-release spring bars make swapping between the two a tool-free process.
Officially, the watch celebrates Union Glashütte’s long-running partnership with the Sachsen Classic historic rally, an event that has inspired several limited editions over the years. Unofficially, enthusiasts familiar with Audi’s competition history may see something more. Whether recalling the liveries of the quattro rally cars, the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO or the Audi 200 Trans-Am machines of the late 1980s, the color combination feels like a subtle nod to one of the most recognizable visual identities in modern motorsport.
Limited to 350 individually numbered examples, the Union Glashütte Averin Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic carries an MSRP of €3,700 and is manufactured in Glashütte, Germany.
