ABT Doubles Down on Performance Hybrids with New Packages for Audi A5, Q5 and Q8

ABT Sportsline is leaning further into electrified performance, expanding its hybrid tuning portfolio with new packages for the Audi A5 Avant, Audi Q5, and Audi Q8 60 TFSIe. The approach is consistent across all three: preserve the everyday usability and electric driving capability of plug-in hybrids, while unlocking a meaningful bump in system output and layering in ABT’s signature visual aggression.

For the A5 Avant, ABT transforms what is already a capable plug-in hybrid into something notably more urgent. Depending on specification, total system output climbs from 299 PS to around 360 PS, or from 367 PS to approximately 428 PS. The 2.0 TFSI component itself is pushed to roughly 310 PS. While top speed remains unchanged, the added power is aimed squarely at improving real-world drivability—stronger midrange acceleration and more effortless overtaking rather than headline numbers.

Visually, the A5 Avant package follows ABT’s familiar formula. Gloss black aero elements—including a front lip, intake trims, and rear spoiler—combine with matte black quad exhaust outlets and 20-inch ABT Prime wheels. Suspension springs and interior touches like illuminated door sills and branded switchgear round out what is effectively a full-spectrum upgrade, priced at €13,500 before installation and finishing.

The same dual-stage power strategy carries over to the Q5, where output rises to the same 360 PS or 428 PS levels depending on configuration. Here, the focus is less on outright sportiness and more on reinforcing the Q5’s core identity—usable performance with added confidence. ABT complements the power increase with a more pronounced aero package, 22-inch EVO wheels, and suspension options tailored to both steel spring and air suspension setups. Pricing starts at €18,200, reflecting the added complexity of the SUV platform.

At the top of the range sits the Q8 hybrid, which receives ABT’s more serious “Power S” treatment. Two stages are offered, starting at 462 PS and 650 Nm and climbing to a substantial 557 PS and 750 Nm in its highest form—territory that places it beyond even an Audi SQ8 in outright output. The upgraded 3.0 TFSI engine contributes significantly here, rising to approximately 408 PS, while the overall package remains compatible with the myABT app for digital integration.

As expected, the Q8’s visual package matches its performance ambitions. A dedicated aero kit, 23-inch HR23 wheels, and ABT’s quad-exit exhaust treatment give it the presence to match the numbers. At €23,770 before installation, it positions itself as the flagship offering in ABT’s growing hybrid lineup.

The broader takeaway is clear: ABT isn’t treating electrification as a compromise. Instead, it’s using plug-in hybrid architecture as a new baseline—one that can still deliver the layered performance, customization, and visual identity its customers expect. With five-year warranty coverage on modifications and potential tax advantages in certain markets, these packages also signal that hybrid performance tuning is no longer niche—it’s becoming standard practice.
