Audi’s new GT50 Concept remains shrouded in a bit of mystery at this time, likely due to the nature of its origins. While I ran a story here yesterday with initial information, I’ve been able to chase down a few more pieces of information with the help of some contacts at Audi who were able to direct me to some additional sources. These have allowed me to create more renderings with greater accuracy – namely rear and side shots. As a result, I wanted to provide more information about what we know.
Most of that information comes from a German website Stimme.de. Note, that content is parked behind a paywall. From that story though I’m able to glean some important facts regarding the configuration and construction of the car.

Audi trainees at the Neckarsulm site have designed and built this captivating concept car and named it “GT50” in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Audi’s five-cylinder engine. The project involved 14 apprentices from various departments working over about six months, combining creativity and technical skills to produce a one-off racing-inspired vehicle.
The GT50 was built from an Audi RS 3 donor car, with much of the interior removed and body panels replaced. The team even used the roof from an older Audi 80, possibly a B3 or B4 from the looks of it, and carefully adapting it to the new proportions. The use of that roof keeps the more squared off dimensions that fit with this car more than the modern aerodynamically optimized jellybean rooflines of modern cars like the donor RS 3.

The design is meant to draw inspiration from Audi’s motorsport history, especially the Audi 90 IMSA GTO and Audi 200 quattro Trans-Am racers. It features a strong, aggressive look with wide fenders, a large rear spoiler, molded fiberglass body panels, side exhausts, and a custom-fabricated roll cage built by the trainees.
Trainees described the bodywork and fiberglass work as among the most challenging parts of the build. The finished car was unveiled at an internal company event, where it received enthusiastic applause and praise from Audi’s HR board member for showcasing teamwork, passion, and innovation among the next generation of Audi engineers.

Based on the general response from the enthusiast community, the car also appears to be quite popular with consumers seeking a return by the Audi brand to eras where the brand had more of a distinctive market position. Clearly the Audi trainees team is on the same page with this sentiment and kudos to that group for creating something so authentic.
Audi has not yet released a full official photo set of the GT50 Concept. To date, only a small number of images have been shared with select German and niche outlets, and those images are limited in both quantity and resolution. In the absence of comprehensive official photography, the additional views shown here have been rendered utilizing AI tools to better illustrate the car’s proportions, surfaces, and design intent, and to provide a clearer visual understanding of the project beyond the few angles currently available.
