Audi Nuvolari Becomes Brand’s Most Powerful Production Car Yet

Audi has pulled the wraps off the Nuvolari, a limited-production supercar that introduces the brand’s first high-performance hybrid powertrain and establishes new benchmarks for performance, technology and lightweight engineering. Limited to 499 examples worldwide, deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.

With a combined output of 1,001 PS, the Nuvolari becomes both the most powerful and fastest production vehicle in Audi history. Audi claims a 0-100 km/h time of 2.6 seconds, a 0-200 km/h sprint in 6.8 seconds and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with three axial-flux electric motors, creating a hybrid system that produces 736 kW and introduces several technologies influenced by the brand’s Formula 1 program.

The new flagship also debuts Audi’s quattro predictive ride system, which uses extensive sensor data to proactively manage torque distribution, braking intervention and aerodynamic settings. Drivers can select from E-Hybrid, Balanced, Dynamic and Dynamic+ drive modes, while a dedicated Track Mode allows further adjustment of traction and stability settings for varying conditions and skill levels.

Lightweight construction plays a major role in the Nuvolari’s performance. Audi combines its latest Audi Space Frame architecture with an extensive carbon-fiber exterior, marking the first time the company has used the combination on a production vehicle. Nearly every exterior panel is constructed from carbon fiber reinforced polymer, while forged center-lock wheels also make their production debut for the brand.

Aerodynamics are equally advanced. An active rear wing, Formula 1-style drag reduction system, front S-duct and adaptive aerodynamic surfaces continuously adjust downforce and drag depending on driving conditions. In its highest-downforce configuration, Audi says the Nuvolari can generate more than 400 kilograms of aerodynamic load.

The driver-focused cockpit follows Audi’s latest design direction, placing primary controls and information directly within the driver’s field of view. Lightweight carbon-fiber seats, anodized aluminum trim and a two-tone interior theme reinforce the car’s blend of performance and craftsmanship.

Named after legendary Italian racing driver Tazio Nuvolari, the new supercar serves as a technological showcase for Audi’s future performance ambitions. According to Audi CEO Gernot Döllner, the project demonstrates what can be achieved when technology, performance and execution are developed in parallel, while Audi CTO Rouven Mohrdescribed Formula 1 as a key source of innovation for bringing new technologies to production vehicles.
