Allan McNish Named Racing Director for Audi Revolut F1

A very familiar name has moved into a leadership position at Audi Revolut F1. Audi driving legend and former Formula E team principal Allan McNish has been elevated to the role of Racing Director for the team.

The appointment confirms another layer in the team’s evolving leadership structure as it progresses through its first season in Formula 1, with McNish set to take on full trackside responsibilities beginning at the Miami Grand Prix.

EXPANDED TRACKSIDE ROLE

In his new position, McNish will oversee all aspects of race weekend execution. That includes sporting operations, engineering coordination, race strategy, and driver management, along with garage operations and on-site media and partner activity.

The role effectively centralizes trackside decision-making under a single figure with deep ties to Audi’s broader motorsport ecosystem, reinforcing a more integrated structure as the team continues to build out its Formula 1 presence.

AUDI VETERAN BOLSTERS THE STRUCTURE

McNish is not an external hire. He has been embedded within Audi’s Formula 1 program since its earliest stages, making him one of the most familiar figures with the internal workings of the project.

His existing role leading Audi’s Driver Development Programme will continue alongside his new responsibilities, maintaining continuity across both the team’s current operations and its future talent pipeline.

McNish’s résumé spans multiple levels of top-tier motorsport. A former Formula 1 driver, he is more widely recognized for his success in endurance racing, including multiple overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a title in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

He will report directly to Mattia Binotto, who currently holds dual responsibilities as CEO and Team Principal of the organization.

Within Audi, his leadership experience includes roles such as Director of Coordination for Audi Group Motorsport and Team Principal of the brand’s Formula E effort.
