Topic: Driving the new Audi RS 5 in Morocco

Why to Listen:

When Audi Sport’s one-and-done 1988 Trans-Am 200 campaign came to an end, Hurley Haywood was crowned champion, an extremely capable driver running for an exceptionally run team – Group 44. And though the 200 Trans-Am had been deemed to have an unfair advantage in its quattro all-wheel drive system, Audi and Group 44 had other plans to take on the IMSA series with the 90 quattro GTO.

The story is stuff of legend and so are the players. Most unfortunately, one of those legends –

Bob Tullius, the mastermind behind Group 44 – recently passed away. In this episode, we catch up with Hurley to remember Bob and also those two fast yet brief years when Hurley and Bob helped Audi achieve “unfair advantage” status by dominating the field in two different series, with two different cars and in back-to-back seasons.
