A year in, I’m adding a Facebook Group for this ooooIYKYK presence. While this website tries to share and distribute the Audi-centric content it creates on most platforms, what I’ve learned is that Facebook Group organizers often don’t share that priority.
I first approached this site’s strategy on Facebook as more of a presence in groups I was already a part of. That’s been easier said than done. Facebook is a mature platform, where longtime groups are inundated with a constant barrage of spam. Even firing up this group I created years ago, I had to go through and delete a fair share of ad posts and spam. It’s the nature of the space, and one that hasn’t made being a creator posting your content on groups even supposedly sharing the same subject matter an obvious given.
Sometimes it’s a lack of shared content focus, sometimes its protectionist of one’s perceived territory, maybe throttling the need for the inevitable moderation maintenance of group administration, or simply it’s a mallet approach to throttling regularly recurring posted content that risks dominating a slow rolling group. One can never be sure, but trying to keep up-to-date on this or that rule or preference set by various Facebook Groups has spurred a new appreciation for creating a space directly aligned to the Audi discussion this content is meant to inspire – one that’s not tied to any specific model, era of cars, type of mobility or self-imposed regionality.
That in mind, this group has been created for in-the-know conversation about the Audi brand. Spoiler alert: It will receive regular posts of content from the site, so expect to see plenty of that in the feed. It’ll also include interactive posts with the site – seeking comments on things well beyond stories, like prep for podcast guests or simply chat about the brand.
This won’t be the last “discussion forum” made for ooooIYKYK. On the contrary. It’ll be the first of several outreach arms that are increasingly a requirement for publishers in today’s social media driven landscape.
If you’re already in there, then thanks for joining. If you’re not and you’re active on Facebook, then you’re most welcome to sign up if you share the same passion for the Audi brand.
