What’s Jonny Driving? The Audi Concept C.

Jonny Lieberman, journalist and podcaster, recently joined the ooooIYKYK Podcast to discuss EV drivetrains and how/if that can translate into a good driver’s car. And while I enjoyed chatting with him, I’m even more stoked to see he’s in Varna, Italy this morning driving the Concept C.

UPDATE: MORE PHOTOS FROM JONNY ADDED IN PHOTO GALLERY BELOW.

Audi debuted the Concept C in early September at the Münich IAA Mobility Show. Based on the same platform as the upcoming Porsche 718 EV. They’ve also confirmed they’ll build the car though haven’t confirmed the name.

Lieberman is a staffer for Motor Trend. He’s also a podcaster and in that capacity a host of Motor Trend‘s Inevitable podcast about the future of mobility, a regular player on Spike’s Car Radio podcast that tends to dominate the automotive podcast space and recently has started his own YouTube channel Driving with Jonny. Given his portfolio of work, Jonny’s an A-lister who tends to get to drive at some of the most exclusive media launches… events like this one.

Audi has been a longtime regular at sharing concept cars with media. I’ve driven a few like the R8 V12 TDI concept, the quattro concept and the A1 clubsport concept when I was doing Fourtitude. Perhaps it’s not surprising then that Audi would let a few journalists of Jonny’s stature drive the car, but I’d still argue it is. No one has driven the 718 EV yet… or at least that they’ve written about or commented on.

Jonny’s driving the car literally today. You can follow along on his Instagram posts for now. He’s shared with me he’ll be posting more photos though he’s literally out driving the car as I write this.

Also, it’s interesting seeing the car out and about in the wild. It gives you a better perspective on its schema-changing Radical Next design. It also reveals, at least for now, how Audi would manage the front license plate fitment and elegantly integrate it into the car’s rectangular grille.

Have a blast Jonny. We’re looking forward to your driving impressions.
