Milltek has launched an updated performance exhaust system for the RS 4 (B7), Audi’s RS-car much-loved for its high-revving 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 producing 414 horsepower. Responding to increased demand for parts for “young timers” and modern classics like the B7, Milltek has revisited the RS 4’s exhaust with new technology to enhance both sound and character.
Milltek’s new solution incorporates a modern silencer and an active center H-pipe, equipped with a vacuum-operated valve. This brings the RS 4 in line with the technology seen on more modern RS models, offering a more dramatic contrast between normal and Sport driving modes. The design allows owners to enjoy subtle refinement or deeper V8 sound at the push of a button.
In standard mode, the active H-pipe opens, allowing gases from both banks to mix, while the rear valves close to direct flow through the silencers for a subdued note. Switch to Sport mode, and the H-pipe valve closes to separate the banks, while the rear silencer valves open. The result is a more direct path for exhaust gases and a noticeable increase in volume and character.
Importantly, the system integrates with the B7 RS 4’s original valve control, meaning the Sport mode button on the steering wheel operates as intended. The system is constructed from T304L stainless steel and backed by a lifetime warranty for the original owner.
Design elements include left and right center resonators, silencers, valved outlets, and OE-style oval exhaust tips. Buyers can choose from four finishes — polished stainless, Cerakote black stainless, brushed titanium, and burnt titanium. For European customers, the EC-approved V1 system remains available, delivering an enhanced tone within noise regulations.
Kev Hall, Milltek’s Technical Operations Manager, described the system as “a Jekyll and Hyde exhaust,” offering both smooth subtlety and raw performance. “The RS 4 B7 was one of the first Audis that felt truly dynamic, with a V8 that needed to be heard,” Hall said. “This system finally lets it sound the way it always should have.”
