AI Imagined: Audi TT (Mk1) Widebody

There’s no question that the first-generation Audi TT has come back to the fore. Word is the two concepts (TT and TTS) are on display for inspiration outside the Audi design as of late, while Audi’s Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella rolled up to the racecar-heavy Audi One event “valet stand” in a Mk1 TT just to be different.

Beyond that, the TT Mk1 is a timeless design that just happens to be highly affordable should you wish to pick one up as a collector car while it’s still in the very affordable range.

It seems that was all weighing on me when I created the car you see here. What I was seeking was a clean and understated yet augmented (read: wider) take on the Audi TT Mk1. The results were great, though the original image to come out of Midjourney was an electric orange color and had terrible wheels.

For those who think A.I. image generation is all just a matter of asking for something, the car you see here was a little bit more complex. From the original, a different A.I. tool was used to change the car from electric orange to a grey closer to the Mk1 TT’s Nimbus Grey tone.

Regarding the terrible wheels, they were also quickly changed. For these, I grabbed the design from the 2000 Audi Rosemeyer concept. Yes, the Mk1 TT mid-lifecycle product improvement introduced a similar wheel design, but the concept car’s were polished and had a center lock hub. Given we’re in the space of fantasy, why not go for the more fantastic?

Another modification made late in rendering was the removal of the rear deck lid spoiler. The original TT and TTS concepts, as well as the earliest production TT models, had no spoiler. That was added later when the launch car’s suspension with quick oversteer dynamics became seen as a liability rather than desirable edginess and so the suspension was recalibrated and the spoiler added to all TT models.

Earlier renderings of this car have the spoiler, but I took the time to remove it as the workflow evolved.

This rendering went live on my Instagram account @4Rings.AI a few weeks ago. See it and even more creations there.
