F1 Update, Week 6: F1 Academy + Other News

PRE-SEASON

Feb 01-07

F1 ACADEMY

Emma Felbermayr will represent Audi Revolut F1 Team in the 2026 F1 Academy season. The Austrian driver returns for her second year in the all-female championship, competing with Rodin Motorsport while fully integrated into Audi’s broader motorsport program.

Felbermayr’s 2025 campaign saw her secure a breakthrough victory and establish herself as one of the series’ rising talents. For 2026, she will race in Audi colors, aligning her on-track presence with the manufacturer’s Formula One works effort. Her inclusion in the Audi Driver Development Programme provides access to technical resources, performance coaching and simulator work connected to Audi’s F1 project, creating a more direct pathway between the junior single-seater ladder and the top-tier.

The move underscores Audi’s mission to develope diverse talent as part of its long-term motorsport strategy. Rather than functioning as a parallel initiative, Felbermayr’s program is positioned as an integrated element of Audi’s Formula One structure, giving her exposure to the operational standards and performance culture expected at the pinnacle of the sport.

Her signing also places Felbermayr within a historical continuum of female racers associated with the four rings. Audi’s competition legacy includes legends such as Michèle Mouton, whose performances in the Audi quattro helped set the bar of women in top-level rallying during the Group B era. Others in this rich history include Tamara Vidali who piloted the Audi A4 (B5) Super Touring, Katherine Legge and Vanina Ickx who drove for Audi Sport in the DTM and endurance racer Rahel Frey, a longtime presence in international GT and prototype competition. By backing Felbermayr in a modern single-seater environment tied directly to Formula One, Audi extends that heritage into a new generation and a new competitive landscape.

The F1 Academy series, which runs alongside selected Formula One Grands Prix, provides global visibility and a structured development environment for emerging female drivers.

“Continuing in F1 Academy and to now do so as an official Audi Revolut F1 Team driver is a huge honour. To be associated with a brand that has such an incredible motorsport history, and one that supported icons like Michèle Mouton and Rahel Frey, is truly inspiring. I am grateful for the trust being placed in me and can’t wait to sport the Audi colours on the grid, as I continue my journey in the series with Rodin Motorsport. My goal is to represent the brand with pride, build on what I learned last season, and fight for strong results.”

GRAND PRIX PLAZA, LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas — Formula 1’s largest permanent fan attraction is back in action. Grand Prix Plaza has officially reopened just off the Strip, once again transforming part of the Las Vegas Grand Prix complex into a year-round motorsport playground tied directly to the world of Formula 1 World Championship.

Anchored by more than 100,000 square feet of experiences, the venue blends exhibition, simulation and real driving into one integrated destination. The headline attraction, F1 X, has been refreshed for 2026 with a more tech-driven format. Guests move through interactive zones covering race strategy, car design and the sport’s technical evolution, culminating in an upgraded 4D theater that places visitors in the driver’s seat on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit. Hands-on elements now include custom helmet and car livery design, plus team-based pit stop and race strategy challenges.

For those who want real steering input rather than virtual laps, F1 Drive returns with an updated karting layout that runs on part of the actual Grand Prix circuit infrastructure. High-performance electric karts feature steering wheel displays, push-to-pass style boost systems and F1-style energy deployment, giving drivers a simplified but authentic taste of race management as they tackle a faster, wider course designed to encourage overtaking.

The central F1 Hub ties everything together with professional-grade racing simulators, a large official merchandise store and a lounge-style dining space serving race-themed food and cocktails. Simulators, available as an add-on experience, use motion platforms and immersive visuals to replicate modern F1 car performance in a more serious driver-focused environment.

Positioned within the same 39-acre complex as the Las Vegas Grand Prix Pit Building, Grand Prix Plaza continues to function as both a fan attraction and a corporate event venue, with multiple trackside-inspired spaces for private gatherings. As Formula 1 deepens its footprint in the United States, the reopened Plaza stands as a permanent, interactive extension of race week energy — giving fans a way to experience the sport’s speed, technology and theater any day of the year.
